Meet Big Ben

Jordan Riefe: What can you tell us about Big Ben?
Quentin Tarantino: Oh, you've been hearing about Big Ben, huh? That's a long story. Okay, I'll make it real quick. When you're doing a movie, especially when you're working nights, it's not uncommon for people from time to time to fall asleep on the set. There's nothing necessarily wrong with it, but it's also something you want to discourage at the same time. I can't sleep on set. So, I started doing this thing on Jackie Brown and it carried over. What you do is take a PA on the film. You take the youngest, most fresh-faced one, whether it be a girl or a guy. It's usually like the one that's the most beloved people on the set who id literally like the lowest person on the totem pole. They're so cool and that's one of the reasons why everyone loves them. They're also reminding you why they're there. They're getting paid the least, they're doing the most shit work, and they're just so happy to be there. They kind of remind you why you're doing this in the first place.
You take that person, you send them to Santa Monica Boulevard, you have them go into the most disgusting sex shop that there is and you have them buy the second biggest dildo they have. Bring that big dildo back and you name it after the PA. In this case, the PA's name was Ben. So, this became Big Ben. When somebody falls asleep on the set, somebody with a Polaroid camera comes up and they put it right next to their face and take a picture. Then, you keep a collection of "wall-of-shame" Polaroids. You'd be surprised how much sleeping on the set drops off. Not only does it drop off, but you're waiting for people to fall asleep. You want them to fall asleep and the whole crew's in on it. It's not like I'm doing it all the time. It's usually all of the sudden like, "My God, Marty's asleep, get Big Ben, get Big Ben! Get the Polaroid! SHHHHH!"
JAJAJA!!, eso lo tenía que poner en una de sus películas!!! así habría otro guiño más de los que él hace XDDDD
