Felix Beltrán fue un disertante de lo más cálido. Su charla fue un "recorrido inicial" sobre la problemática de las marcas y su desarrollo. Algunos de los puntos destacables:
* Las marcas son construcciones. No son omnipotentes. Deben pensarse como "puntos de partida". Hoy se sobredimensiona su poder, cuando este se debe a una multiplicidad de factores. Hay una "avalancha de palabrerío de la mercadotecnia": gran parte de la bibliografía del marketing, en lugar de tratar de pensar el problema de la identidad, se preocupa por descubrir nuevas recetas.
* La importancia de poder leer la modificación en la lectura que el público hace de las marcas. Las marcas no son eternas, envejecen, cambian, dejan de reflejar lo que inicialmente representaban. No están congeladas en el tiempo, dependen de una realidad que cambia constantemente.
* La marca debe diferenciar, persuadir, evocar, su cómo debe estar en correcta relación con su qué. El esteticismo, la creatividad mal entendida y las tendencias de la moda (el retro, el post) no son los mejores consejeros.
* La marca (en general) se inicia con el nombre. Y hay que estar atento a las modificaciones que la realidad nos señala, a la presentación constante y a la intervención de acciones de rediseño: los públicos cambian, las instituciones cambian. El trabajo del diseñador debe ser tan paulatino como constante.
* Las nuevas tecnologías nos dan tan rápidas posibilidades de probar, cambiar y experimentar como de producir más cosas que no sean marcas. Estamos llenos de no-marcas. De las mil que se pueden estar produciendo en este mismo momento, hay muchas marcas que en realidad no cumplen con su función, por ser muy complejas en su concepción o por no tener coherencia en su aplicación.
* Lo que está atrás (las institución, la empresa, sus acciones) debe sustentar lo que está adelante (la marca) y no al revés.
