La línea uno del metro de Madrid (para los profanos y los de allende la meseta, la línea azul clarito), no para de darnos anécdotas –más o menos graciosas- con las que rellenar el blog.
A la hora en que la gente sale de la oficina, esta línea, que recorre Madrid de Norte a Sur, es uno de los sitios más concurridos que puedo imaginar. El tópico de las sardinas enlatadas o de los “empujadores profesionales” japoneses no anda desencaminado al hablar de la estación de Gran vía a las ocho de la tarde. Ayer –como cada tarde- volvíamos a casa por la línea uno, derrengados, con la corbata desabrochada, con esa mirada perdida que ya sólo implica “tengo ganas de darme una ducha de media hora y después dormir catorce horas seguidas”, cuando al llegar a la estación de Gran Vía, se subió en nuestro vagón un chico, mochila en ristre, cara de no haberse afeitado en una semana y con un mapa turístico de Madrid en las manos. Iba flanqueado por otros dos chavales de origen magrebí, que parecían ser sus colegas de toda la vida por lo mucho que se acercaban a él. Unos momentos antes de que el tren llegase a la siguiente estación, estos chicos empezaron a hacer cosas raras. Primero tiraron al suelo unas monedas e hicieron el ademán de ir a recogerlas; después se empezaron a empujar y a empujar al chico de la mochila mientras le tiraban de la pernera.
Lo primero que pasa por tu cabeza cuando ves la escena es que se trata de unos amigos que se están empujando un poco por hacer la coña, ya que apenas había violencia. Todo sucede de una forma tan rápida, que sólo te das cuenta de lo que ha pasado cuando los dos chicos están saliendo a toda prisa por la puerta del vagón, que ya se ha parado y está abierta. No has tenido tiempo para actuar. Y aunque hubiese tenido tiempo, te planteas que hubieses hecho...
El chaval se me queda mirando con una expresión que aun no tengo muy claro si era de “pero que costumbres tan graciosas tienen en este país” o “la gente de esta ciudad me da miedo”
- La cartera... – le digo, apiadándome de él.
- Uh?
- Your wallet...- chapurreo, suplicando que el tipo hablase inglés.
- What?
- You’ve just been pickpocketed.
- Oh, shit! – Exclamó al tiempo que a otro pasajero, que tambien se habia dado cuenta de la jugada, le daba tiempo de sujetar las puertas para que el tipo saliese en persecución de los dos carteristas con la enorme mochila bamboleándose mientras gritaba “Oh Shit!, Oh Shit!"
Supongo que no les pilló, y en caso de que les pillara, espero que no le hiciesen demasiado daño. Parecía tan frágil...
Así que ya sabes, querido lector, si tienes cara de pringado, o en su defecto, de turista, mejor evita el metro de Madrid. Y si lo vas a coger, esconde la cartera en los gallumbos. Ha sido un –mal- consejo del tito Towsend.
