Hasta donde he podido ver, pienso tambien q estamos delante de un gran producto, pero mis primeras dudas son:

1.- Una GUI hecha completamente con xH, pero si tengo q usar una, x q no Delphi q ya esta probada y 'limpiada' ? Q ventajas me aportará apostar por esta ?

2.- Como soportara el sistema, sin trabajar con el IDE ? Nos dará la misma flexibildad de ahora con FWH ?. Este a mi ver es el punto mas importante y quizas la gran diferencia q podemos tener al declinarnos por este entorno a uno como Delphi, el poder mezclar dos tipos o maneras de trabajar. No tenemos q comparar los dos sistemas en cuanto a su IDE, sino a las posibilidades q me da de trabajo X, respecto a Delphi.

3.- Evidentemente el trabajo es muy bueno, y solo pensar q el IDE esta hecho con X, ya te de entrada una valoracion muy positiva del producto.

4.- Cierto q 'los carrozas' como yo ;-) nos sentimos extrañados, no en cuanto al sistema, sino q hasta ahora nos sentiamos muy libres a la hora de estructurar un proyecto. Seguro q con este producto podremos realizarlo tambien, pero seremos capazes de gestionar un gran proyecto con la misma facilidad de ahora ?

5.- Cuantas veces se ha criticado por estos foros entornos como VB, Delphi y su filosofia de trabajo. Siempre se ha comentado en general, q cualquier aplicacion un poco compleja tenemos q 'rascar' por narices, y este rascar hoy x hoy es muy facil para los q llevamos años con la FW. Usaremos X, y en un momento crearemos la tipica ventana y el 'Hola mundo...', pero como aguantara con un pedazo de aplicacion ? Seremos capaces de llegar a todos los sitios ?

Evidentemente son mis dudas y pensamientos delante de una nueva herramienta q quizas cambie mi forma de trabajo en los proximos años. Sera cuestion de ir probando y analizando durante los proximos meses todas las conclusiones q vayan saliendo.

1) Delphi y Xailer no son exactamente iguales. Hemos intentado que Xailer esté más próximo a nuestra forma de trabajar. Pero claro, eso son más bien sutilezas que no empujan a nadie en un sentido ni en otro. Realmente, la principal diferencia es el lenguaje de programación. Yo he utilizado Delphi, pero tengo que confesar que, aunque domino Pascal bastante bien, nunca me ha gustado; el lenguaje que más me ha gustado siempre ha sido xbase (liderado por Clipper), y eso es lo que hemos hecho con Xailer: algo bastante parecido a Delphi pero con lenguaje xbase. Así que, si te da igual el lenguaje, pues elige la herramienta que más se adapte a tus necesidades; pero si te gusta xbase, creo que Xailer es la opción a elegir.

2) Xailer te permite programar a la vieja usanza, pero claro, ¿vas a poner a mano todas las coordenadas y dimensiones de los controles?
Por otro lado, cuando grabas un formulario, Delphi genera un stream con la información que necesita, pero a diferencia de Xailer, no es código real, sino que mete esa información en recursos para crear el formulario en runtime. En cambio, Xailer genera auténtico código xbase, que lo compila el propio compilador. De esta forma, incluso podrías coger ese trozo de código y meterlo en otro sitio y jugar con él a tu gusto.

4) En mi opinión, con mucha más facilidad que ahora. Aunque tengo que daros a los dos la razón en que hay que cambiar el chip, y eso seguramente no es fácil para quienes llevan años programando de una forma muy concreta.

5) Yo te puedo decir que llevo ya unos meses haciendo un programa de gestión (por la mañana la aplicación y por la tarde Xailer) y te aseguro que tendré esa aplicación funcionando en clientes antes de que Xailer esté terminado, así que YO mismo me encontraré con la mayoría de los bugs que aparezcan, antes incluso de que otros se den cuenta.
Y sobre si con Xailer se puede llegar más o menos lejos... hombre, ninguna herramienta de programación te da todo lo que puedas llegar a necesitar. Muchas veces tienes que meterte a bucear en el API para conseguir lo que quieres, y Xailer no será una excepción. Eso sí, Xailer cuenta ya con una cantidad suficiente de controles (más que algunas otras herramientas) que te permiten empezar a trabajar desde ya.
