FA 15 ANYS QUE TINC 19 ANYS
Hace exactamente 15 años que se publicó mi primera obra "pagada" en un cómic de Forum, mi primer encargo profesional, una página de humor llamada Fan con Nata.
Ayer, insomne debido a la reciente afición de Natalia por volverse a despertar en mitad de la noche, aproveché para visitar el cajón de los recuerdos porque quería recuperar algo del espíritu "ochentero" en mi próxima obra, The Final Conflict que, de aquí hasta que se edite, habrá cambiado mil veces de título y de formato.
Por la noches la sensibilidad se me dispara. Supongo que se debe al silencio, a la calma de la que no dispongo durante las mañanas. Auténticas chorradas me parecen Asuntos de Estado; recuerdos que creía olvidados surgen a la superficie con la misma fuerza que los barriles amarillos de Tiburón; el McClane auténtico pasea como un espectro por la casa emitiendo ruidos de procesador cerebral: rumble-rumble-rumble.
Guardo las cajas de recuerdos siguiendo un orden que coincide con el año en que fueron depositados en sus respectivas cajas. Por eso, 1989 convive con otros años posteriores y anteriores en la parte izquierda y posterior del segundo cajón empezando por arriba.
Eso me permite viajar en el tiempo con mayor comodidad.
Quería descubrir cómo era el McClane de esa época, el McClane ochentero. Quería recuperar mi esencia. Necesitaba compararme al nuevo McClane, ser testigo de su evolución. Necesitaba presenciar las causas que, dentro de la teoría del caos, me habían empujado a ser como soy.
Lo que encontré no fue una Estatua de la Libertad enterrada en la arena...
Allí, en el pasado, lo que vi era más sobrecogedor: era yo mismo.
Ya, parece lógico, pero hay mucha gente que a los 34 años no se parece en nada a lo que era a los 19. Sí, ganas en experiencia; sí, adquieres responsabilidades; sí, el carácter se ha moldeado a las nuevas circunstancias. Pero dejás atrás cosas, muchas cosas: aficiones, ideologías, sueños...
Allí, en esa línea temporal, seguía estando yo, y acabé rodeado de 15 años de recuerdos, en cajas ordenadamente amontonadas, revisando escritos, fotografías, pases de autobús, entradas de cine, felicitaciones, artículos publicados, colecciones de carátulas de cine, llaveros, cartas, cintas de cassette donde recopilaba frases de películas para memorizarlas...
Cielo santo, ¡¡hasta las fotos y postales de Samantha Fox me siguen pareciendo morbosamente incitantes!!
La melancolía no me llevaba a pensar "aaaah, en aquella época me emocionaba tal o cual cosa..." Noooo. Tal o cual cosa me sigue emocionando.
Estuve a punto de despertar a mi mujer y decirle: "¡Abandonen el submarino, ingrésame en un sanatorio, huye de mí, sigo siendo una especie de adolescente involucionado, soy el mismo que rezumaba adrenalina en cada entrenamiento y combate de Rocky Balboa...!"
Es algo profundo, es un sentimiento que no se puede transmitir ni en uno ni en cincuenta web logs. Si se tratara de ansias de ponerse otra vez la ropa que llevaban Spandau Ballet o Duran Duran (o peor, The Human League), seguro que se puede tratar con medicamentos o con la ayuda de un profesional médico...
...pero es más que eso.
¿Eso es bueno?
¿Mantener las mismas emociones y sentimientos que me llevaron a dedicarme al mundo de la farándula en lugar de alistarme en el ejército...? ¿Los mismos sentimientos que me llevan a ser tolerante y abierto...? ¿Todo aquello que no me ha convertido en Darth Vader, sino que me encamina hacia Han Solo con sombrero y látigo...?
Creo que, sinceramente, sí. Tiene que ser bueno.
Estoy seguro de que elegí la línea temporal adecuada. Creo que las cajas del pasado siguen un órden lógico y que la mejor parte de mí (lo lo que yo veo así)no se ha quedado encerrada en una de ellas.
P.D.- Finalmente, recuperando el pasado en busca de algo gráfico que plasmar en la portada (que no sé si será aprobada), quedaron como finalistas unas cuantas referencias: 1- Mad Max (III) llevando sobre los hombros a uno de los niños en su andadura por el desierto en dirección a Bartertown, 2- Una vez más, el paseo campestre de Cuenta conmigo, 3- la escena en que Ripley carga con Newt sacándola del reactor de terraformación, 4- los Goonies, 5- un cartel japonés de Le llaman Bodhi, 6- Superdetective en Hollywood, 7- la escena de el Acorralado en la que John Rambo camina por el puente, antes de llegar al pueblo, 8- el cartel de Blue Velvet y/o la performance de In dreams, 9- una ilustración del Joshua Tree de U2 y 10- El Club de los Cinco.
Ganó la onceaba en discordia, Another Country, deliciosa y contundente película, en dura pugna con otras dos clasificadas: Carros de Fuego y Los Cazafantasmas.
Cuando el tiempo pasa no nos vuelve alguien diferente, nos vuelve más "yo". El tiempo nos tamiza, nos pasa por un colador, nos filtra como un riñón para acabar haciendo de nosotros una buena versión de nosotros mismos. Estoy seguro que Cels 2.0 es una excelente versión de Cels 1.0 y seguro que Natalia piensa lo mismo :P
Y, sí, Fan con Nata era genial. Lo mejor de las Secret Wars. O casi.
¿Realmente hacía falta compararte con tu yo de los ochenta? No debes intentar plasmar tu yo antiguo en los comics de tu yo contemporáneo, lo que queremos son historias cada vez más nuevas, no que vuelvas al pasado para contárnoslas de otra forma.
Tú ahora es la versión mejorada de tú hace diez/doce años, nada de lo que haga él puede ser superado por lo que hagas tú, la voz de la experiencia.
Sé que no solo haces referencia acómics en este post, pero es simplemente para que veas a qué me refiero.
