La SGAE y las leyes básicas de la economía
José Cervera, desde el weblog de elmundo.es ha realizado un interesantísimo análisis de las cifras de venta de cds en España publicadas en el Anuario de la SGAE.
Después de estudiar con cuidado las estadísticas que la propia SGAE facilita, su tesis es rotunda, independientemente del fenómenos de la piratería, la cifra de ventas de cds disminuye en paralelo al aumento del precio de los mismos, cuando el precio se mantiene o se reduce, la ventas crecen.
En 2003 se han vendido los mismos discos que 1997, curiosamente dos años en los que el precio medio de los discos fue idéntico y hay que destacar que en el 97, la piratería no estaba tan extendida o por lo menos no constituía un problema para la SGAE.
Más datos, en el año 2000 bajó el precio medio del CD (un 7,8% de descenso entre los 9,49 euros por ejemplar de 1999 y los 8,72 de 2000) y las ventas se dispararon (pasando de 63,4 millones de copias a 77,8 millones). En el 2000 la piratería no era lo que es ahora, pero ya se empezaban a ver las primeras mantas y yo por lo menos, estaba enganchadísimo al Audiogalaxy.
El año que menos se vendió fue el 2002 (un 17,2% menos ), casualmente cuando los cds aumentaron su precio medio en más 3,9%, de 8,68 euros a 9,02.
Las cifras hablan por si sólas e indican que el efecto de la piratería es mucho menor del que se cree, o del que a las fonográficas y los intermediarios de recaudación quieren hacernos creer, un hecho que se debería tener en cuenta a la hora de legislar a la carta de unos pocos.
Hablando de cifras de venta, por primera vez, Los Planetas directamente al número 1 en singles vendidos (la lista del link aún no está actualizada), con "Y además es imposible." (Gracias Supervago.)

Pues yo he leido en el Informe Anual que, efectivamente, el impacto de la piratería es menor del que se esperaba. No he visto en el Informe ninguna afirmación que diga la píratería hace que se vendan menos discos... lo que sí he leido es que el 22% de los discos que se compran son ilegales. Ese 22% no son en su totalidad discos dejados de vender ya que el consumidor que se afana en comprar cds por 2 euros no va a empezar a hacerlo ahora a 13 euros...
Ah!, totalmente de acuerdo: si el precio de un producto sube su demanda baja... pasa con las patatas y también con los cds.
De todos modos hablamos del mercado de los cds no del mercado de la musica que, aparte de abrirse camino en el comercio electrónico "legal", ha conseguido superar los 100.000 conciertos en un año.
